Mysterious Death of Buddhist Monk in Tinsukia Shocks Community
The body of a senior Buddhist monk has been found in a suspected murder at a monastery in the Margherita Co-District of Assam. Indrabonsho Bhikkhu, the chief monk of Inthem Mungong Buddha Vihar, was discovered dead in a room at the monastery on November 23. Investigators retrieved a blood-stained axe located beside the body, which has heightened suspicions of foul play.
The monastery is situated about 20 kilometers from the Margherita headquarters in Tinsukia district. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the monk’s death; however, no arrests have yet been made.
Police have not established a motive for the killing or identified any suspects. This incident has profoundly shocked the local Buddhist community, where Indrabonsho Bhikkhu was a revered religious leader.
