Mohan Bhagwat Urges Janajati Leaders in Imphal for Unity and Lasting Peace

RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat met with leaders from Janajati communities in Imphal on the second day of his three-day trip to Manipur. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to foster unity, character development, and social harmony, aiming for lasting peace and progress in the region. Following the discussions, Dr. Bhagwat shared a traditional Manipuri meal at Bhaskara Prabha with over 200 representatives, celebrating social equality and mutual respect.

In his address, Dr. Bhagwat outlined the RSS as a social organization focused on strengthening society, explicitly stating that it holds no agenda against any community. He reiterated that the organization is not politically affiliated, and its mission is based on friendship, affection, and social harmony. He urged the attendees to recognize that the essence of the nation lies in unity, which is supported by leaders and institutions but ultimately relies on societal commitment.

He highlighted Bharat’s civilizational continuity, pointing out studies indicating that its genetic and cultural heritage has remained consistent for over 40,000 years. This supports a shared consciousness among its diverse communities. He articulated that Bharat functions as one civilizational family where unity does not necessitate uniformity. Quoting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, he stressed that the values of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity thrive only when fraternity is robust, asserting that fraternity is integral to Bharat’s identity.

Dr. Bhagwat recounted the founding of the RSS, stating it was not a reaction to external threats but an initiative to counter internal disunity. He characterized the Sangh movement as one aimed at character building and urged people to visit Shakhas to see its grassroots efforts. He noted that anyone sincerely committed to the welfare of society and Bharatiya civilization is essentially an undeclared swayamsevak.

Responding to concerns from the Janajati leaders, he acknowledged their issues as national matters that should be approached within the constitutional framework. He insisted that conflicts within a family should be resolved internally, motivated by a sense of unity. He also pointed out that many regional divisions today are remnants of colonial policies that contribute to ongoing tensions.

Dr. Bhagwat elaborated on the Sangh’s initiatives, such as Sadbhavana Baithaks and Panch Parivartan, which aim to promote social harmony, strengthen familial ties, conserve the environment, and encourage civic engagement. He urged the Janajati leaders to take pride in their indigenous cultures, languages, and scripts, advocating for a swadeshi lifestyle rooted in cultural identity. He emphasized the importance of building a strong and united nation as the world looks to Bharat for civilizational guidance.

The historic dialogue and shared meal concluded with a powerful message of cultural unity and collective responsibility, exemplifying the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” in action.
