Mukesh Chhabra Opens Up About Casting Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’
The highly anticipated film, ‘Ramayana,’ directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor, has fans eagerly awaiting new updates. Mukesh Chhabra, the casting director, recently revealed some intriguing details about the cast during an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast.
Chhabra disclosed that Ranbir Kapoor was an early choice for the role of Lord Rama. He said, “Nitesh bhai had decided to cast Ranbir very early in the process. Once you watch the film, you’ll see why it’s such apt casting. Nobody can beat Ranbir when it comes to acting.” He added, “Ranbir has a calmness on his face that was essential for the role. It’s a great decision, and the audience will realize this after watching the film.”
Despite securing Ranbir Kapoor for the lead role, finding an actor for Lakshman proved challenging. Chhabra revealed that several actors turned down the role. Eventually, they settled on a newcomer from the television industry, marking his first film in Bollywood. “We’ve found a lovely actor for Lakshman. A lot of people auditioned for the role, but I’m very happy with the actor we’ve gone with,” Chhabra shared.
To maintain secrecy, the filmmakers, led by producer Namit Malhotra, have taken extensive measures to avoid leaks from the set. They’ve covered the sets from all directions and implemented a no-phone policy to prevent any images from emerging. Despite their efforts, some pictures of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai’s looks were leaked. “Surveillance has been tightened to avoid further leaks,” Chhabra stated, revealing that the working title of the film is ‘God Power.’
