DMRC’s Urgent Decision: New Safety Measures Following Delhi Blast
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reopened two gates at the Lal Quila Metro station following a significant decision aimed at ensuring passenger safety. This move comes just days after a tragic blast near the historic Red Fort in New Delhi, which resulted in the death of 12 people and left many others injured. In a recent announcement on social media platform X, the DMRC confirmed that Gate numbers 2 and 3 are now accessible for commuters.
Previously, the DMRC had closed the Lal Quila Metro Station indefinitely due to security concerns. At the time, they stated that both entry and exit points at the station were temporarily suspended, with operations halted until clearance from relevant security agencies was received. The DMRC reassured the public that all other metro stations and lines were operating as per their usual schedule.
Situated on the Violet Line, Lal Quila Metro station is a vital transit point, offering access to significant landmarks like the Red Fort, Jama Masjid, and the lively Chandni Chowk area. The temporary closure had raised concerns about its impact on daily commuters and tourists, particularly during peak hours and weekends.
In related developments, new CCTV footage emerged revealing Dr. Umar Un Nabi, the prime suspect in the blast case, entering the national capital via the Badarpur border in an i20 car. This information further escalates the investigation into the blast. The footage depicts Umar stopping at the Badarpur toll plaza, withdrawing cash, and handing it to the toll collector. Despite wearing a mask, he was clearly identifiable in the video, and a large bag was observed in the backseat of his vehicle.
