Major Cut in Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Starts November 1!
State-run oil marketing companies have announced a reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices across major metropolitan areas starting Saturday, providing much-needed relief to businesses. The latest adjustments mean that a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will now be priced at Rs 1,590.50 in Delhi, down by Rs 5 from the previous rate of Rs 1,595.50. Kolkata sees the highest decrease of Rs 6.50, with prices set at Rs 1,694 per cylinder. In Chennai, the new price is Rs 1,750, reflecting a Rs 4.50 reduction, while Mumbai’s price now stands at Rs 1,542, down by Rs 5.
This price revision is particularly beneficial for numerous small and medium-sized businesses, including restaurants, hotels, and catering services, that rely heavily on LPG for their daily operations. It comes on the heels of a Rs 15.50 hike implemented in late September, offering a slight reprieve to these establishments.
However, it is important to note that domestic LPG prices have remained unchanged and are consistent across all cities. Earlier this September, oil marketing companies had reduced the cost of commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 51.50, bringing the price down to Rs 1,580 in Delhi. This follows previous reductions of Rs 33.50 and Rs 58.50 in July, illustrating a trend of fluctuating prices.
In June, companies had announced a Rs 24 cut, setting the price at Rs 1,723.50, while prices were Rs 1,762 in April. February saw a modest Rs 7 decline, but March experienced a slight uptick of Rs 6.
Additionally, the Centre has revealed plans to distribute 2.5 million free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) during the festival season, further supporting households in accessing cooking fuel.
