SIT Calls on Actor Partha Hazarika Amid Intensifying Zubeen Garg Investigation
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the death of singer Zubeen Garg has summoned actor Partha Hazarika for questioning as allegations linking him to the case continue to grow. Hazarika, who was reportedly close to both Zubeen and his wife Garima, is facing claims on social media that he allegedly blackmailed the deceased musician.
This new development in the investigation comes after Singapore authorities forwarded Zubeen Garg’s post-mortem and toxicology reports to the Assam Police. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on October 31 that this represents “substantial progress” in the probe. “When our SIT visited Singapore, the authorities there assured full cooperation. Today, they have formally sent the post-mortem and toxicology reports, along with guidelines under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT),” Sarma stated to reporters.
Zubeen Garg, aged 52, tragically died while swimming in the sea in Singapore on September 19. Following his death, the SIT, which consists of ten members, has arrested seven individuals who are currently in judicial custody. Sarma, who also holds the Home portfolio, expressed confidence in the direction of the investigation, stating, “The SIT is absolutely confident about ensuring justice for Zubeen. When it submits the chargesheet by December 17, people will appreciate their work.”
