Exciting New Journey: Railway Ministry Greenlights Vande Bharat Service Connecting Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Ernakulam!
The Ministry of Railways has officially approved the launch of a Vande Bharat Express service connecting KSR Bengaluru and Ernakulam, with a route through Coimbatore. This new train service, scheduled to run six days a week (excluding Wednesdays), is set to enhance travel convenience for passengers in southern India.
The train, designated as Train No. 26651, will depart from KSR Bengaluru at 5:10 a.m., arriving in Ernakulam at 1:50 p.m. Conversely, the return journey will see Train No. 26652 depart Ernakulam at 2:20 p.m., reaching Bengaluru by 11:00 p.m. En route, the service will make stops at key stations including Krishnarajapuram, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, and Thrissur. Notably, it will depart Krishnarajapuram at 5:25 a.m. and make subsequent stops at Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, and Thrissur, with specific timings respectively.
The Railway Board has directed both South Western Railway and Southern Railway to initiate this service at the earliest opportunity, emphasizing the importance of widespread publicity around the new connection. A special inaugural run may precede regular operations, offering a sneak peek into the enhanced travel experience.
Coimbatore NXT, an initiative by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Coimbatore, has expressed its support for the new service, highlighting the significant benefits it will bring for travelers. This new connection provides two direct options for passengers, linking Coimbatore to both Bengaluru and Ernakulam. The travel time from Coimbatore to Bengaluru will be approximately five hours and thirty minutes, while the journey to Ernakulam is expected to take around three hours.
In addition, Coimbatore NXT urged Southern Railway to consider reducing the travel time for the existing Coimbatore–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express, currently running at six hours and thirty minutes, down to six hours. They also proposed the introduction of a new Vande Bharat Express service from Coimbatore to Thiruvananthapuram via Ernakulam, further enhancing regional connectivity.
Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan recently highlighted the integration of this new Vande Bharat train service during his visit to Coimbatore. He indicated plans for additional connectivity, including a daily train service between Coimbatore and Ranchi, aiming to bolster transportation across critical economic and textile hubs, including Erode, Salem, Tiruppur, and Coimbatore.
This new Vande Bharat Express is anticipated to significantly streamline travel for passengers in southern India, promoting economic growth and facilitating easier access across major urban centers. As anticipation builds for its launch, travelers are encouraged to stay updated for further announcements regarding the timetable and operational details.
