Transforming Lives: Free Eye Check-Up Camp in Margherita Honors Zubeen Garg
A free eye check-up camp was held on October 26 at Assam Junior College in Margherita, honoring the memory of the late artist Zubeen Garg, whose recent passing resonated deeply with people throughout the state. The event offered complimentary eye examinations, including cataract screenings and provisions for free eye surgeries, benefiting over a hundred patients from surrounding areas.
The program began with a lamp-lighting ceremony and a floral tribute in front of Zubeen Garg’s portrait, with Manju Chetry, the President of Ketetong Gaon Panchayat, lighting the lamp to mark the official start of the camp. Inaugurated by Meenakshi Barua Gogoi, a member of the Anchalik Panchayat, the medical services were expertly supervised by Dr. Amulya Gohain.
Present at the event were Sushil Kalita, the proprietor of Assam Junior College, along with doctors from the Ketetong Block Primary Health Centre, Ward Members Chiranjiv Lama and Dhanmaya Lama, and numerous dignitaries and local residents who attended in large numbers. Participants expressed their appreciation for Assam Junior College’s humanitarian efforts, deeming it a fitting tribute to Zubeen Garg’s enduring legacy, as his music has touched the hearts of millions.
