Assam BJP Rallies for Justice: Join the March for Zubeen Garg
Guwahati, Oct. 22: The ruling BJP organized a ‘Nyay Yatra’ (March for Justice) in Nalbari district, lower Assam, on Wednesday, calling for a swift judicial investigation into the ‘mysterious’ death of beloved singer Zubeen Garg. The party urged the special investigation team (SIT) to present a solid, watertight chargesheet against those responsible for his death.
Thousands of party workers, supporters, and members of the public participated in the march, which was led by state BJP president Dilip Saikia. Participants chanted slogans like “Joy Zubeen, Pranor Zubeen” and “I am also a Zubeen fan, we all are Zubeen fans,” emphasizing their admiration for the late artist. They also demanded that justice be expedited by the courts and that the SIT submit its findings without delay.
Saikia expressed gratitude to the chief minister and the state government for their actions following the tragic loss of Garg. He voiced hope that the judicial system would soon deliver justice in this high-profile case. In his remarks, he criticized opposition parties, alleging they were leveraging the situation for political gain and asserted that Zubeen Garg should never be used as a political pawn.
Prominent officials, including Union minister Pabitra Margherita and state ministers Jayanta Malla Baruah and Chandramohan Patowary, were also present during the ‘Nyay Yatra’. According to state BJP spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami, similar marches are planned in Mangaldoi on Thursday, followed by events in Dibrugarh and Cachar on Friday, with participation from thousands of BJP workers and fans of the late singer expected at each location.
