Garima’s Heartfelt Proposal for Zubeen Khetra Cremation Site
Garima Saikia Garg, the wife of the late music legend Zubeen Garg, has proposed that his cremation site in Kamarkuchi, Sonapur, be officially named “Zubeen Khetra.” This suggestion was made during a remembrance gathering and aims to honor Zubeen’s remarkable contributions to the music, culture, and social landscape of Assam. Garima highlighted that the site has already become a place of deep emotional and cultural significance, attracting hundreds of fans daily who flock there to pay their respects.
She expressed that naming the site “Zubeen Khetra” would not just be a tribute to the beloved artist, but also a way to preserve his legacy for future generations. “Zubeen Da belongs to the people of Assam; his resting place should reflect that love and connection,” Garima stated.
The proposal has garnered support from various cultural organizations and fans, who are urging the state government to adopt this change as a symbol of respect for the music icon who inspired millions through his songs and humanitarian efforts.
