Smart City CCTV Captures Robbery Suspects: Four Arrested!
In a late evening press release, the East Siang District police announced the arrest of four suspects linked to a robbery in Pasighat. The incident, detailed in a case registered at the Pasighat Police Station, involved the theft of 30 cement bags, a mobile phone, and ₹5000 in cash, as reported by the complainant, Shri Raktim Jyoti Gogoi from Silapathar.
The robbery occurred on September 25, 2025, around 2:30 AM, when Gogoi’s truck, which was en route to the Sigar Military Camp, was intercepted by unidentified assailants near JNC, Pasighat. The assailants threatened the driver with severe consequences should he report the incident.
A formal robbery case was registered, and the investigation was assigned to Sub-Inspector Kodak Dagium. During the investigation, SI Dagium reviewed CCTV footage from the Smart City ICCC, which revealed a white Gypsy vehicle with a black hood suspected to have been used by the culprits. The vehicle was traced to Paglek but disappeared from surveillance afterward.
On September 26, SI Dagium, under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Insp. Atan Taki, organized a team to seek out the suspected vehicle while in plain clothes. Though multiple vehicles matching general descriptions were investigated, none were identified.
However, the initial search bore fruit, leading to the identification of one suspect, Oda @ Mida Dai, 39, from Balek Village, on September 27. He was soon apprehended, along with two collaborators, Jowel @ Lal Gurung, 30, of Mirbuk, and Onyok @ Talat Lego, 23, of Diking, all situated in East Siang District.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the robbery and named a fourth accomplice, Jobi Apum, 24, also from Balek Village, who was captured the following day. The stolen cement bags were returned to the police by Tering Dai, Oda Dai’s younger brother, and were eventually handed back to the complainant after verification.
All four suspects have been taken into custody and remanded to judicial supervision. Pankaj Lamba, IPS and Superintendent of Police for East Siang, commended the Pasighat Police for their swift and effective response, particularly highlighting the role of Smart City CCTV in resolving the case.
