Shaurya Motorcycle Rally: Honoring Unsung Heroes of the 1962 War
In a touching tribute to the bravery of soldiers who fought in the 1962 India–China War, the Indian Army has launched the four-day “Shaurya Motorcycle Rally” from Likabali Military Station. This rally aims to honour the courage and commitment of those who defended India’s borders under extremely challenging conditions.
Organized in collaboration with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the rally will cover approximately 900 kilometers across the rugged terrains and remote valleys of Arunachal Pradesh, following the historic routes taken during the 1962 conflict. The participant group consists of 20 riders from the Indian Army and ITBP alongside 12 civilian riders from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
The rally’s route will include significant locations such as Basar, Borarupak, Menga, Shere Thapa Memorial, Taksing, Daporijo, Ziro, and the Neelam Tebi War Memorial. In addition to the motorcycle rides, the team will connect with local communities, engage in motivational talks with students, and initiate awareness campaigns focused on the themes of “No Drugs” and “No School Dropouts,” supported by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The event will also feature ceremonies to honour local heroes and community members who have played a role in promoting national unity and development in border areas. These initiatives, supported by local administration, are designed to enhance the relationship between the armed forces and civilians, fostering a sense of patriotism and communal responsibility.
More than just a symbolic motorcycle ride, the Shaurya Motorcycle Rally represents a heartfelt effort to uphold the legacy of India’s unsung heroes while showcasing the natural beauty of Subansiri Valley. It serves as a poignant reminder of the Army’s unwavering dedication to national service, remembrance, and unity.
