Experience a Brighter Future: Maharashtra Unveils Revolutionary ‘Solar Village’ in Manyachiwadi
Maharashtra Inaugurates First Solar Village in Satara District
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated Maharashtra’s first ‘Solar Village’ today, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy adoption. The Manyachiwadi village in Patan Taluka, Satara district, has been transformed into the state’s inaugural ‘Solar Village.’
During the inauguration, CM Shinde emphasized the state government’s commitment to renewable energy and reducing reliance on conventional power sources. He highlighted the impact of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which has alleviated electricity bill burdens across the state. Additionally, Shinde mentioned the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, under which farmers receive a substantial 90-95% subsidy to install solar pump sets.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis shared ambitious plans for Maharashtra’s solar energy future. He announced that within the next 18 months, the state aims to generate 12,000 megawatts of solar power, ensuring free daylight electricity for farmers to enhance agricultural productivity.
In a strategic move towards expanding solar energy, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) plans to offer up to 100% solar-powered electricity to two villages in each district. Following the footsteps of Manyachiwadi, over 70 additional villages across Maharashtra will soon join this initiative.
This landmark development underscores Maharashtra’s dedication to a greener future and sustainable agricultural practices, setting a precedent for other regions to follow.
