A recent survey by Nasscom and Kantar titled ‘Advancing Healthcare in India: Navigating the transformative impact of AI’ reveals that nearly 80% of pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in India have embraced artificial intelligence (AI) at a modest level. However, a mere 10% have significantly incorporated AI into their core operations.
The integration of AI promises to lower drug discovery costs, expedite time-to-market, and enhance clinical success rates. For healthcare providers, AI aids in streamlining patient care, reducing misdiagnosis, and facilitating personalized treatments and preventive care.
Despite its potential, AI adoption faces significant hurdles, including a dearth of specialized talent, limited budgets, data complexities, and scalability issues. To fully leverage AI in India’s healthcare sector, companies must focus on strengthening foundational elements, upgrading infrastructure, enhancing skills, meticulous planning and implementation, scaling operations, and aligning with regulatory frameworks. This comprehensive study surveyed over 75 healthcare firms to gather these insights.
