Assam BJP Chief’s Strong Denial: Justice Promised for Zubeen Garg’s Case
Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia denied any current connection between Siddharth Sharma, the former manager of the late singer Zubeen Garg, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This statement comes amid increasing speculation following Sharma’s involvement in the ongoing investigation into Garg’s mysterious death.
Speaking to the media at the BJP’s state office in Basistha after the screening of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 126th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Saikia remarked, “I have heard that three to four years ago he may have been associated with the BJP Yuva Morcha. Personally, I have never met him. At present, he neither holds any responsibility in the party nor is he even a member.”
Saikia emphasized that there would be no leniency for those implicated in the case. “There are serious allegations against him, and the investigation is underway. Zubeen Garg’s family will get justice. Whoever is guilty will face the strictest punishment, no matter who they are,” he asserted.
On the electoral front, Saikia congratulated BPF leader Hagrama Mohilary for the recent Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections, highlighting the expanding influence of the BJP in the area. He noted that the party secured five seats in Darrang-Udalguri and improved its vote share compared to previous elections, although the party narrowly lost in several constituencies due to the suspension of campaigning following Zubeen Garg’s untimely passing. “In some seats, we lost by just 200–300 votes,” Saikia observed.
