Itanagar is poised for significant development in infrastructure and energy as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Arunachal Pradesh on September 22. During his visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for several projects amounting to over Rs 5,100 crore, which include two major hydropower initiatives valued at more than Rs 3,700 crore. These projects aim to tap into the state’s extensive hydroelectric potential, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
In addition to energy projects, Modi will inaugurate a cutting-edge Convention Centre in Tawang, located at an elevation of over 9,820 feet. This venue is designed to host national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions, with the capacity to accommodate over 1,500 delegates. Officials anticipate that the centre will enhance tourism and promote the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister is expected to launch various infrastructure initiatives across multiple sectors including connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and housing for working women, with a total investment of approximately Rs 1,290 crore. These initiatives are designed to foster economic growth, improve living standards, and enhance regional connectivity.
As part of his visit, Modi will engage with taxpayers, traders, and industry representatives to discuss the effects of recent GST rate adjustments and explore avenues to facilitate easier business operations in the state.
In a related development, Modi will also inaugurate the redevelopment of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari, Tripura, under the PRASAD scheme. This project, which has been designed in the shape of a tortoise from an aerial view, will feature new pathways, renovated entrances, and improved drainage, along with a three-storey complex that includes guest accommodations, meditation halls, and office spaces. Authorities believe that this redevelopment will enhance tourism, create job opportunities, and promote socio-economic growth in the area.
