Education Minister and Amlarem legislator Lahkmen Rymbui has announced a work order for the Darrang Secondary School, marking progress with the approval of nine new classrooms. This initiative is part of the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) continued effort to improve educational infrastructure in the region. The project includes the construction of five classrooms and the introduction of four computer units for the school, significantly enhancing learning opportunities for students.
The funding for this development stems from the Border Areas Development Programme (BADP) for the fiscal year 2019-2020. The project also incorporates the construction of a 205-meter suspension footbridge over the Umngot River, aimed at improving access to educational facilities.
Rymbui, a member of the UDP and the MDA-2 cabinet, expressed the importance of this educational initiative during a statement to the War Jaintia Circle Unit. He emphasized that his cabinet’s approval marks a significant step towards fulfilling the government’s commitment to enhance education in the War Jaintia region. As the Minister responsible for Education, Revenue, Disaster Management, Information and Public Relations, as well as Law, Rymbui is focused on implementing programs that benefit the community.
The cabinet’s decision aligns with ongoing efforts to promote various welfare schemes, reinforcing the UDP’s promise to uplift the socio-economic conditions in the area and ensure that students receive the best possible education.
