The fate of Zubin Garg’s mortal remains returning to Assam from Singapore remains undecided. The Singaporean police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death. If they do not uncover any suspicious information, they are expected to grant permission for his body to be transported back to Assam at 10:30 AM Singapore time today.
Conversely, should the authorities find any doubtful evidence, an autopsy will be conducted at 12:30 PM tomorrow, after which the remains will be allowed to return to Assam. Following the autopsy, additional formalities will require another two to three hours. Reports suggest that the autopsy of Zubin’s body is highly likely to take place on Saturday.
The flight from Singapore to Guwahati via Delhi typically takes at least six hours. Consequently, Zubin’s remains could arrive in Guwahati around 8 PM tonight.
According to Singaporean laws and regulations, permission for the transfer of Zubin’s body will only be granted after his death has been investigated. The police have already interrogated several individuals regarding the incident.
Authorities indicate that Zubin’s body will be transported directly from Guwahati Airport to his residence in Kahilipara. Culture Minister Bimal Bora has confirmed that once Zubin’s body arrives in Guwahati, the government will officially arrange for his last rites.
Minister Bora added that fans would be permitted to pay their last respects by allowing Zubin’s body to be displayed at a designated small stadium for at least a day. Depending on the situation, his remains may be kept there for an additional two or three days. Afterwards, the last rites will be conducted either in Guwahati or his hometown Jorhat, with full state honors as per the community’s wishes.
Currently, Assam is engulfed in mourning over Zubin’s demise. The entire night saw numerous admirers gathering at his residence in Kahilipara, deeply saddened and paying tribute to the beloved artist.
