Tragedy in Mandi: Landslide Claims Three Lives Amid Heavy Rains
At least three people have lost their lives and two others have been rescued after debris from an adjacent cliff collapsed onto a house in the Nihri area of Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh, due to heavy rainfall overnight. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandi, Sakshi Verma, confirmed the incident, stating, “Three people died, while two others were rescued. The rescue teams rushed to the spot, and operations are still underway.”
The torrential rain, which began Monday night, has led to widespread destruction across the region. In Dharampur town, flash floods overwhelmed the bus stand, washing away multiple buses and vehicles, according to police reports.
This continuous downpour has not only caused landslides but also significantly disrupted road connectivity, leaving many locals stranded and emergency services under immense pressure. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid travel in vulnerable areas.
Rescue operations are ongoing, involving police, disaster response units, and local volunteers. Officials reported that efforts are being made to clear debris and restore normalcy, even as heavy rain persists in various parts of Mandi district.
