Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the Numaligarh Refinery sparked significant traffic congestion as hundreds of attendees found themselves stranded for hours. On Sunday, during the inauguration of an ethanol project at the refinery, over a hundred buses were stuck for several hours on National Highway 39 in Golaghat district.
One woman expressed her disappointment, stating, “I didn’t even get a glimpse of Modi. I left home early this morning, and now I have to turn back.” Another attendee voiced her frustration, saying, “We’ve been left here hungry and waiting. I didn’t see the Prime Minister, and I feel very upset.”
Bus drivers criticized the lack of traffic management during the event. One driver noted, “There were too many vehicles, but I didn’t see any police to manage the situation. If traffic had been properly controlled, it wouldn’t have been this congested.”
