Furious Himanta Biswa Sarma Condemns Jharkhand Authorities for Infamous Rapist’s Escape and Outrageous Mistreatment of Victim’s Family
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has openly denounced the Jharkhand authorities following the escape of Mohammad Shahid Ansari, a convict serving a life sentence for murder and gang rape. Ansari escaped from Hazaribag Medical College after allegedly killing tribal police constable Chauhan Hembram on August 11. Sarma’s criticism comes amid growing outrage over the handling of the situation by Jharkhand’s law enforcement.
In a social media post, Sarma expressed his dismay at the lack of response from officials to Hembram’s family. He emphasized that despite the severity of the incident, no one had reached out to the grieving family. Sarma revealed that he, along with Babulal Marandi, was on his way to visit Hembram’s family in Bishni Saran, Thana – Bengabad, District – Giridih to offer their support.
Adding to the controversy, Sarma reported a disturbing incident that occurred early in the morning. According to him, around 4:30 AM, local police detained Hembram’s wife and children and sealed their home. Sarma described this action as “very strange,” suggesting that it indicated a deeper issue within Jharkhand’s political environment. He accused Jharkhand’s political system of engaging in “appeasement politics” and prioritizing political gains over the welfare of its tribal citizens.
Sarma’s statements have ignited a debate on the state of law enforcement and political priorities in Jharkhand. The incident raises serious questions about the security measures in place for prisoners and the treatment of tribal communities by local authorities.
