The four-day exercise, named ‘Achook Prahar,’ involved coordinated operations with heavy weaponry, including mortars and machine guns, conducted under simulated combat conditions. It served as a validation of battlefield readiness and showcased seamless interoperability between the Army and ITBP, thereby strengthening India’s layered defense architecture along its border with China. An official defense source noted that the exercise affirmed the collective resolve of the armed forces to remain combat-ready.
In Shillong, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh addressed commanders at a four-day conference underscoring the Eastern Air Command’s vital role in securing India’s northern and eastern borders. He stressed the necessity for a unified response to new threats and challenges. Air Chief Marshal Singh was honored with a guard of honor upon his arrival, which also provided an opportunity for students from local schools to interact with him. The conference aimed to boost operational capabilities and improve coordination among different military branches.
The Achook Prahar exercise builds on a series of integrated drills aimed at testing India’s tri-service capabilities in challenging terrains, further demonstrating the country’s commitment to maintaining a robust military presence in sensitive regions. Modi’s schedule also includes a visit to northeastern states Assam and Mizoram next month, following his return from China.
