Sikkim CM’s Daughter Shines in Taekwondo, Earns Father’s Pride
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed his pride on August 24 as his daughter, Prakriya Tamang Golay, participated in the Poomsae Competition at the Asmita Khelo India Women’s League held at Palzor Stadium in Gangtok. This event was organized by the Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA) in collaboration with India Taekwondo and Khelo India. Its primary goal is to encourage women’s participation in martial arts while inspiring young girls to consider taekwondo as a viable career, promoting discipline and confidence along the way.
Prakriya, currently a Red One Belt holder in taekwondo, was one of many young women competing in the Poomsae category, which emphasizes executing a series of movements with precision and technique. This discipline is known for its elegance and requires a high level of skill.
In a statement, the Chief Minister remarked, “I am proud to share that my daughter, Prakriya Tamang Golay, is taking part in the Poomsae Competition at the Asmita Khelo India Women’s League. I wish her and all fellow competitors great success in this event and hope they gain valuable experiences that will strengthen their journey in sports.” This initiative not only highlights individual talent but also aims to foster a positive environment for women in sports in Sikkim.
