Celebrate Brilliance and Achievement: Riti Academy Award 2024 Honors Excellence in Creative and Academic Fields
The Riti Academy Award Ceremony took place on August 16, 2024, at Raj Bhavan, Shillong, honouring five outstanding individuals in various creative and academic fields. The event was graced by Meghalaya Governor Chandrashekar H Vijayashankar as Chief Guest and Shri F.R Kharkongor, Principal Secretary of Arts and Culture, as Guest of Honour.
Governor Vijayashankar lauded the efforts of Riti Academy and urged government departments to support such initiatives to promote local youth. He highlighted Meghalaya’s natural beauty and stressed the importance of timely support for arts and cultural initiatives, encouraging the youth to pursue excellence through dedication and hard work.
The five awardees were recognized for their contributions in their respective fields. Merlvin Jude Mukhim received the Crystal Gayle Memorial Award 2024 for his work in performing arts. Prof. Marco Babit Mitri was honoured with the Sumar Sing Sawian Memorial Award 2024 for his achievements in literature. Ibankyntiew Mawrie was bestowed the S Quotient Sumer Memorial Award 2024 for her contributions to media. Alicia Pyngrope received the Rana Kharkongor Memorial Award 2024 for her excellence in music, and Shanborlang Kharbudon was awarded the Prithpal Singh Sehdave ‘Ladi’ 2024 for his work in visual arts.
The Riti Academy Award Ceremony attracted government officials, the awardees’ families, and other invitees. The event brought together a diverse audience to celebrate the artistic and academic achievements of the region’s talented individuals.
Additionally, the ceremony honoured the legacies of individuals like Crystal Gayle Kharnaior, Prithpal Singh Sehdave (‘Ladi’), Sumar Sing Sawian, Rana Kharkongor, and S Quotient Sumer, each of whom made significant contributions to their respective fields, setting inspiring precedents for future generations.
