NH-10 Reopens Ahead of Schedule: Discover the New Travel Experience!
DARJEELING: National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) announced that NH-10, which had been scheduled for closure until the morning of August 8, reopened to traffic a day earlier than expected. The highway became accessible from 6:30 PM on Thursday.
Kalimpong Superintendent of Police Shrihari Prasad confirmed this development, stating, “The NHIDCL has completed the cutting at the Sethijhora location with safety delineators. One-way traffic is being allowed by the police administration from that spot from 6:30 PM onwards today.”
Originally, the highway connecting Sikkim and Kalimpong to the plains was closed from August 3 until the evening of August 6. Following a fresh order issued on Wednesday, it was initially planned to remain closed until 9 AM on August 8 for vehicle safety on the NH section from Coronation Bridge to Chitrey.
The closure had been necessitated due to a partial collapse of the highway at Sethijhora on August 3. In the meantime, travelers had been utilizing various alternate routes to reach Siliguri.
