Mizoram’s Kolasib District Hospital has achieved national acclaim by securing certification under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), ranking among the best-performing government hospitals in India with an impressive score of 96.39% in a recent assessment. This achievement was announced by Dr. Lily Chhakchhuak, the Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) within the state’s Health & Family Welfare Department.
With this prestigious recognition, Kolasib becomes the seventh district hospital in Mizoram to be awarded NQAS certification, highlighting the state’s advancing healthcare infrastructure and service delivery. Currently, 37 government hospitals in Mizoram have received the NQAS National Certificate, establishing a high standard for quality and patient care. Furthermore, 22 additional hospitals have state-level certification and are awaiting results from the national assessment, with six currently under review.
The Health Minister of Mizoram praised the dedication and effort of healthcare workers and administrative teams at both district and state levels. “This national recognition reflects the unwavering dedication of our healthcare professionals who serve as the backbone of patient care across the state,” the Minister noted. “The inclusion of Mizoram’s hospitals among the best in India is a proud moment for all of us.”
NQAS certification, granted by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of the Government of India, assesses hospitals according to rigorous standards that encompass areas such as patient rights, infection control, facility maintenance, and overall service delivery. A score of over 90% is deemed a benchmark of high performance, underscoring the significance of Kolasib District Hospital’s accomplishment in the broader context of healthcare in India.
