Explosive Breakthrough: ATS Dismantles Al Qaeda Module Members in Gujarat, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh!
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) announced on Wednesday the arrest of four individuals linked to an alleged Al Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) terror module, spanning four cities across Gujarat, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. This crackdown follows the ATS’s investigation, which was triggered by reports of five Instagram accounts purportedly promoting incendiary and misleading messages aimed at drawing local youth towards extremist ideologies.
ATS Deputy Superintendent of Police Harsh Upadhyay stated that these accounts were not just spreading misinformation but actively inciting violence against the Indian state. They have been linked to the promotion of AQIS’s terrorism-related content, urging followers to engage in acts of violence under the banner of “Ghazwa-e-Hind,” thus aiming to undermine the stability and democratic framework of India.
Following the identification of the account holders, the ATS found that the Instagram handle ‘f4rdeen_03’ was maintained by 27-year-old Mohd Fardeen from Ahmedabad. Similarly, the handle ‘sharyat_ya_shahadat’ was traced to Mohd Faiq in Delhi. Two additional accounts, ‘_mujahideen1’ and ‘mujahideen.3’, were associated with Zeeshan Ali from Noida. The final account, ‘sefullah_muja_hid313’, belonged to Sefullah Kureshi, hailing from Modasa, Gujarat.
In coordination with central agencies, the ATS executed a series of operations between July 21 and 22, apprehending all four suspects. During searches, investigators uncovered extremist literature, including material linked to AQIS’s so-called Operation Sindoor, along with a sword in Fardeen’s possession. A video on his phone showcased him brandishing the sword while chanting provocative slogans, underscoring the serious nature of the allegations.
The arrested individuals allegedly collaborated via Instagram to disseminate violent propaganda and incite rebellion against the Indian government. The ATS has reported that Mohammad Faik also had connections with Pakistani accounts, indicating a broader network. In light of this evidence, the Gujarat ATS has registered cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with a local court granting a 14-day police remand for the accused.
The investigation continues as the ATS seeks information on 25 additional Instagram accounts, with a total of 62 accounts currently under scrutiny. This situation highlights the ongoing challenge of using social media as a tool for radicalization and the state’s commitment to combating terrorism through vigilant monitoring and quick action.
The arrests not only emphasize the ATS’s proactive measures in counter-terrorism but also raise awareness about the potential dangers posed by social media platforms in perpetuating hate and violence.
