Following a serious incident of misconduct at the Sewa Kendra in Sector 25, four Municipal Corporation (MC) employees were reportedly found consuming alcohol on government premises. As a result, the Junior Engineer in charge has received a notice from the Municipal Corporation (MC) in Chandigarh.
Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar conducted an unannounced inspection on July 9 and summoned the Junior Engineer on July 10 to clarify his involvement in the situation. The Commissioner held him responsible for not preventing the misconduct and instructed him to provide a written explanation within three days.
The Commissioner’s office has stated that failure to submit the explanation within the given timeframe will lead to ex-parte disciplinary proceedings against the official. Drinking alcohol inside a government building has been classified as a serious violation of service conduct rules.
The Commissioner emphasized that the Junior Engineer’s inaction constitutes gross negligence and failure to fulfill his duties, warning that strict disciplinary actions will ensue if accountability is not upheld.
