India has never won a Test match in Abidjan, having played eight matches without a victory. However, the team led by Shubman Gill now has the opportunity to change this statistic and make history. Fans eagerly await the outcome as the match unfolds today.

India has set a daunting target of 608 runs against England. As the fourth day concludes, England finds itself in trouble, having lost three wickets for just 72 runs. To secure a win on the fifth day, they will need an additional 536 runs, while India requires just seven wickets.

From the first innings, it was evident that Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep could shine with the new ball. This continued into the second innings, where England’s Ben Duckett and Joe Root struggled against the duo.

Siraj forced Jack Crawley (0) to play a shot, sending him back to the dressing room. Shortly after, Akash Deep removed aggressive batsman Duckett, who scored 25 runs off 15 balls. Akash also claimed Root’s wicket (6). At the end of day four, Ollie Pope (24) and Harry Brook (15) were at the crease.

In a remarkable display, Shubman Gill, who has been unstoppable as captain, scored an impressive 269 runs in the first innings and followed it up with 161 in the second. This performance elevates him to elite status in cricket. However, the beginning of day four was challenging for India as Gill needed to bat quickly after Karun Nair returned to the pavilion for just 26 runs.

Despite making a half-century, KL Rahul (55) was dismissed before building a significant partnership. Gill had earlier formed a solid partnership of 110 runs with Rishabh Pant (65) before Pant was out, but Gill continued to anchor the innings. Ravindra Jadeja also contributed significantly, scoring 69 runs not out. Nithish Reddy fell for just one while Washington Sundar remained unbeaten with 12 runs.

India declared their second innings at 427 runs for six wickets. Following this, the Indian bowlers put in a formidable performance that left England scrambling. Fortune favored the Indian bowlers, who could have taken more wickets. However, rain is forecast for the fifth day, which could pose a significant obstacle for India in their quest for victory.

In summary of the match: India scored 587 runs in their first innings (Shubman Gill 269, Jadeja 89), while England managed 407 runs (Jamie Smith 184, Harry Brook 158). In the second innings, India declared at 427 for six (Shubman Gill 161, Jadeja 69, Pant 65), and England is currently at 72 for three (Ben Duckett 25, Ollie Pope 24, Harry Brook 15). England requires 536 runs to win, while India needs just seven wickets.
