Tragic Loss: 14-Year-Old Boy in Kandivali Jumps from Building After Mother’s Tuition Request
A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life on Wednesday after jumping from a high-rise building in Kandivali, Mumbai. Reports suggest that the boy was upset following an argument with his mother over attending tuition classes. Living on the 51st floor of the building, the boy’s fall occurred under circumstances that remain unclear, though initial investigations by the Kandivali police indicate a case of accidental death.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud thud, prompting residents to discover the severely injured boy shortly after he had left to play outside instead of attending his scheduled classes. Police indicated that he fell from a significant height, resulting in catastrophic injuries. His mother was reportedly searching for him at the time of the incident when she received the heartbreaking news. The young boy’s body has since been sent for an autopsy as authorities continue to investigate.
In a separate and equally distressing incident hours later in Rajasthan, four family members, including a woman and her two young sons, died by suicide after jumping into a water tank in Barmer district. Local police reported that Shivlal, 35, his wife Kavita, 32, and their two sons-aged 8 and 6-were found dead in a tank outside their home in Undu village.
Initial investigations suggest that Shivlal may have locked his house before jumping into the tank with his family. The bodies were discovered on Tuesday evening, but retrieval efforts were delayed until Wednesday morning to accommodate the arrival of family members, as they were informed of the situation. The bodies have been sent to the mortuary at Bhiyad Community Health Centre for autopsy examinations.
The family’s turmoil appears connected to conflicts over housing. Kavita’s uncle, Gopilal, stated that Shivlal had aspirations to build a separate home using funds allocated under the PM Awas Yojana. However, internal family disagreements involving his brother and mother concerning this plan reportedly left him feeling hopeless, leading him to pen a suicide note on June 29.
These tragedies highlight ongoing concerns about mental health and familial pressures facing youth and families in India. Both incidents underscore the importance of addressing emotional issues and providing adequate support systems to those in crisis. As communities grapple with these heart-wrenching events, the need for open dialogues about mental health and access to resources becomes ever more crucial.
