Operation Sindhu: Heartwarming Reunion as 268 Indian Nationals Return from Israel-Watch the Emotional Journey!
In a significant development under Operation Sindhu, an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 flight returned from Sharm-El-Sheikh, Egypt, bringing 268 Indian nationals back to India from Israel. This latest repatriation raises the total number of returnees to 594 since the operation commenced amid escalating tensions in the region. The flight landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:00 AM on June 24, where the returning citizens were welcomed by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), shared updates via X, underscoring the urgency of the operation which began on June 23. “The IAF is committed to the safe evacuation of our citizens,” he stated, highlighting the collaborative effort to address the crisis stemming from the Israel-Iran conflict.
Earlier in the week, the IAF successfully evacuated 165 Indians from Amman, Jordan. This operation was part of a broader mission to assist not only Indian citizens but also nationals from allied countries caught in the web of conflict. The first group of 161 individuals arrived from Israel at 8:20 AM, prompting a swift response from the IAF.
The backdrop of these evacuations is a rapidly deteriorating security situation in West Asia. The conflict flared significantly on June 13, when Israel executed a large-scale airstrike targeting Iranian military and nuclear facilities, dubbed “Operation Rising Lion.” Subsequently, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps retaliated with an extensive drone and missile offensive known as “Operation True Promise 3,” aimed at critical Israeli infrastructure.
In a turn of events, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between the warring nations following U.S. military strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend. This diplomatic development may provide a brief respite in an increasingly volatile region, where the continuous flow of operations underscores the urgency of ensuring the safety of civilians.
As Operation Sindhu progresses, the IAF continues to demonstrate its readiness as a first responder, dedicated to assisting not only its citizens but also those in need across the globe. The magnitude of the operation reflects the Indian government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of its citizens in times of international crisis. As the situation evolves, the focus remains on executing safe evacuations and facilitating the return home for those affected by the conflict.
