BJP Determined to Triumph: Sweeps Both Rajya Sabha Seats in Assam with Unyielding Resolve
BJP to Contest Both Vacant Rajya Sabha Seats in Assam with NDA Support
Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared its plan to contest the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats in Assam. According to State BJP President Bhabesh Kalita, the party is confident of securing the necessary backing from other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners to win both positions.
The decision emerged from a two-day BJP meeting held in Guwahati, where party leaders strategized for the upcoming panchayat and Rajya Sabha elections. An additional significant meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, which will be attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Kalita also expressed concerns about the protection of Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, urging the new government there to take immediate action to ensure their safety. He further criticized the Congress for its lack of response on this issue.
The vacancies in the Rajya Sabha were caused after Sarbananda Sonowal and Kamakhya Prasad Tasa won the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission has set the voting date for these Rajya Sabha seats on September 3.
This political development is pivotal as the BJP seeks to consolidate its influence in Assam, engaging actively with both state and national alliances to secure a stronghold in the Rajya Sabha.
