Edappadi K. Palaniswami Engages with Students at School Inauguration

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, during his inauguration of additional classrooms at the Municipal Middle School in Alachampalayam, near Edappadi on Sunday, criticized the DMK government for what he described as wasteful expenditure on an upcoming car race in Chennai.

Palaniswami pointed out that the DMK was planning to hold a night street race in Chennai, encircling key city landmarks such as a government hospital, a railway station, a harbor, and the Secretariat—areas notorious for traffic congestion. He condemned the government’s allocation of ₹42 crore for this event while neglecting pressing public grievances.

The former Chief Minister lambasted Minister for Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, accusing him of acting immaturely. He also highlighted skyrocketing taxes and the surge in essential commodity prices. According to Palaniswami, the cost of rice has escalated from ₹50 per kg during the AIADMK administration to ₹80 per kg under the current government.

Palaniswami criticized the DMK for failing to introduce new initiatives, claiming they were merely inaugurating projects initially proposed by AIADMK. He accused the Chief Minister of focusing on unveiling statues rather than addressing the state’s substantive issues.

Highlighting deteriorating law and order in Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami expressed concern over the alleged widespread availability of drugs, particularly ganja, leading to increased student addiction and subsequent violent crimes. He claimed the current government had not taken action against the drug menace.

Palaniswami concluded by urging constituents to compare the development in the Edappadi Assembly constituency before and after 2011, noting that many demands had been fulfilled. He thanked voters for their support, citing a notable electoral victory margin in the municipality and Assembly constituency in recent parliamentary elections.
