Congress MP Shashi Tharoor described his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “good, lively, and informal.” The meeting took place at PM Modi’s residence in New Delhi, where he engaged with members of all-party delegations involved in Operation Sindoor. Tharoor remarked on the pleasant atmosphere of the gathering, noting that PM Modi utilized the occasion to thank the delegates for their efforts. “He spent over an hour with us, walking around, engaging with different groups informally,” Tharoor shared, as reported by ANI. He added that the meeting was not structured formally; even MPs who had compiled reports about their trips refrained from presenting them.

The congressman emphasized a “general proposition” that resonated positively across the attendees-the idea of parliamentarians regularly visiting foreign nations to strengthen diplomatic ties. “We suggested that these visits should become a more frequent practice, and the PM seemed to appreciate the idea,” Tharoor noted.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed pride in how the multi-party delegations effectively conveyed India’s position on global terrorism, especially following the recent Pahalgam attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor. Hosting the parliamentarians and former diplomats, PM Modi highlighted their successful outreach across 33 world capitals in recent weeks.

“I met with members of the various delegations who represented India internationally and articulated our commitment to peace and the urgent need to combat terrorism. We take great pride in the way they projected India’s voice,” Modi stated in a post on X.

The seven delegations, which included a total of 59 lawmakers and former diplomats, were composed of members from various political parties, each group consisting of 8-9 members led by designated leaders.
