Indulge in a Culinary Journey: Tiga at The Leela Hyderabad Unveils Exquisite Dishes from Singapore, Malaysia, and China!

At Tiga, located in The Leela Hyderabad, culinary enthusiasts can embark on a delightful journey through Singaporean, Malaysian, and Chinese cuisines. The name ‘Tiga,’ translating to ‘three’ in Malay, reflects the restaurant’s commitment to curating a menu that showcases signature dishes from each region while incorporating innovative, modern pan-Asian fusions.

The restaurant’s design beautifully marries traditional Asian aesthetics with contemporary flair, featuring familiar patterns and woodwork. The Yum Cha corners are particularly inviting, making them perfect for gatherings with family and friends. The earthy brown tones of the decor contrast elegantly with the white flooring, creating a warm yet sophisticated ambiance.

Chef Albert Rayan from Singapore and Chef Shah from Malaysia lead the kitchen, bringing a fresh perspective to traditional flavors. Their approach focuses on clean, contemporary presentations and a balance of bold yet restrained profiles. A delightful amuse-bouche of spicy mango on crisp toast sets the tone for a vibrant culinary experience. For a light snack, diners can enjoy salted boiled peanuts, adding a touch of comfort.

During a recent meal, I was first served a bowl of soup that initially appeared dry. Chef Albert poured in a fragrant broth, transforming it into a soothing and herbal chicken soup that was both delicate and flavorful-a perfect companion for a wholesome dinner. Next came beautifully chargrilled chicken satay, tender and full of flavor. Tiga’s menu pays tribute to Singapore’s diverse culinary heritage, highlighting iconic dishes such as chilli crab and Hainanese chicken rice, alongside favorites like nasi lemak and lamb rendang.

Chef Shah, Tiga’s Chef de Cuisine, remarked, “We’ve put in a lot of work to bring our food philosophy to life. Teaching the team how a rendang should taste exactly like it would in a Malay home took time.” This dedication is evident in the lamb rendang, served with fried rice, boasting a hearty texture and flavorful depth without overwhelming the palate.

As the meal progressed, additional snacks like crab crackers added to the array, leading up to the indulgent Peking duck wraps. These wraps are a must-try for duck lovers, rich enough that the accompanying sauce feels optional. Bite-sized dim sums and siu mai quickly made their way to the table, light and easily devoured, enhancing the meal’s appeal.

While the laksa and chilli crab tempted me for my next visit, dessert took center stage. A kaffir lime and bitter chocolate petit gâteau arrived, perfectly light and refreshing, accompanied by a rich and gooey Singaporean river mud cake-ideal for chocoholics. I savored every bite of the latter, leaving me with a lingering desire for the laksa, but also providing a perfect excuse to return to Tiga.

Tiga in The Leela Hyderabad offers a memorable dining experience that celebrates the diverse flavors of Southeast Asia through a modern lens. From its thoughtfully curated menu to its inviting ambiance, Tiga stands out as a destination for anyone seeking to explore the exquisite tastes of the region while enjoying a sophisticated dining atmosphere.
