Urgent Advisory: Haryana Health Department Empowers Residents to Combat Rising COVID-19 Cases as 24 New Infections Emerge!
As COVID-19 cases surge in Haryana, the State Health Department has issued a comprehensive 10-point advisory urging residents to remain vigilant and prepare effectively. On Wednesday alone, six new cases were reported, raising the total number of infections in the state to 24 for the month. Health officials collected 78 samples that day, with 14 active cases presently recorded and no fatalities yet reported.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured the public that there is no need for panic, emphasizing the state’s readiness to tackle any situation arising from the ongoing health crisis. This statement followed a meeting with senior Health officials in Chandigarh aimed at reinforcing the state’s preparedness.
The advisory, issued by Director General of Health Manish Bansal, contains critical directives for Civil Surgeons. It mandates the establishment of Flu corners and outlines essential health preparedness measures, including the availability of beds, isolation accommodations, oxygen supplies, antibiotics, and other necessary medications. The initiative stresses the importance of retraining health staff to ensure they are well-equipped to recognize and manage COVID-19 symptoms in line with current guidelines.
Additionally, the directive calls on district health officials to maintain a steady supply of N-95 masks and reagent kits. Civil Surgeons are also instructed to monitor patients in home isolation, especially those considered high-risk, including the elderly, pregnant individuals, children, and those with existing health conditions. This proactive approach aims to foster awareness of appropriate COVID-19 behaviors, particularly adherence to respiratory and hand hygiene standards.
The advisory emphasizes the need for continuous monitoring of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infections (SARI), with the District Surveillance Unit tasked with tracking trends in these categories. They are expected to regularly assess the proportion of SARI cases among all reported ILIs, ensuring that an adequate number of samples are sent for testing as part of an updated surveillance strategy. Furthermore, ongoing data updates and collaboration with members of the Indian Medical Association are essential for maintaining preparedness.
So far, Gurugram has reported the highest incidence of new cases with 11, followed by Faridabad with nine, while Karnal and Yamunanagar have reported three and one case, respectively. The situation remains fluid, and health officials continue to monitor developments closely.
The advisory serves as a reminder not only of the current state of COVID-19 in Haryana but also of the importance of community cooperation in combating the virus.
