AALO, 19 May: The West Siang Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development Department, in partnership with the Kombo circle office, successfully hosted a livestock health and awareness camp on Monday at Kombo Papak. This initiative was part of the National Animal Disease Control Programme aimed at improving animal health standards.

The event kicked off with an opening address by Dr. Yaani Ngomdir, DAHVO (in charge), who emphasized the critical role of livestock health in promoting rural development. Following his remarks, Kombo ZPM Momar Lollen and Circle Officer Eken Bam shared their insights on how healthy livestock can enhance the economy and livelihoods of the local community.

A key part of the program included a technical session led by SVO Dr. Marpi Kakki, who provided valuable information on preventing diseases and implementing best practices in livestock management. This session was designed to equip participants with knowledge that can help improve animal welfare and productivity.

The camp encouraged engagement among local leaders, featuring an interactive discussion with Lura presidents and secretaries, as well as HGBs, GBs, and GPCs. This interaction highlighted the community’s commitment to addressing livestock health issues collectively.

Overall, the event saw vibrant participation from the local populace, underscoring the significance of animal health and disease control in sustaining rural economies. The collaborations underscore the ongoing efforts to enhance agricultural practices and ensure the well-being of livestock in the region.
