Tripura Secures ₹50 Crore Aid for New IR Battalion: A Strategic Boost!
The Union Home Ministry has approved the establishment of an additional India Reserve Battalion specifically for the Tripura State Rifles. This decision comes following a proposal from Chief Minister Manik Saha, which was presented to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during their meeting in Delhi. Chief Minister Saha shared the news on Facebook, stating, “Big boost for Tripura! Union Ministry of Home Affairs sanctions raising of another India Reserve Battalion for Tripura State Rifles, enhancing security and generating employment opportunities. Grateful to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji.”
According to official sources, the Government of India will provide a one-time financial assistance of Rs 50 crore for the establishment of this new Battalion. Furthermore, the Government of India will retain the right to deploy the Battalion anywhere across the nation as needed, ensuring that the state can be called upon for assistance when required.
In addition to personnel costs, the Ministry will allocate up to Rs 30 crore for infrastructure expenses, excluding land costs, contingent upon the submission of expenditure details for the infrastructure development. This initiative not only aims to bolster security in the region but also promises to create new job opportunities, contributing to the overall development of Tripura.
