Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has called on the Indian government to clarify its stance regarding the recent actions of the United States towards Pakistan. He urged the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to outline the steps it plans to take in response to these developments.
In a pointed statement, Gogoi expressed his concerns that the Trump administration has recently restricted Indian armed forces from conducting further strikes on Pakistani targets, facilitated a $2.5 billion IMF package for Pakistan, pledged to enhance trade relations with Islamabad, and hyphenated India and Pakistan while internationalizing the Kashmir issue. He emphasized that these actions warrant serious scrutiny of India’s foreign policy and demanded a clear strategy from the MEA on how it intends to engage with the US moving forward.
Previously, Gogoi raised alarms over the IMF’s $2.5 billion aid to Pakistan, cautioning that it must not be diverted to support terrorist organizations. He also acknowledged the recent cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan.
“I am grateful to the Indian armed forces for their exemplary service in safeguarding India’s territory and sovereignty. The dedication of our soldiers makes us proud. I extend my prayers to the families who have endured immense suffering during the Pahalgam attack and the cross-border firing incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the Poonch region,” Gogoi stated.
He added, “Pakistan has sought to promote the two-nation theory in India, yet Indians of all faiths, ethnicities, and languages have united against it, affirming our commitment to the secularism enshrined in our Constitution. In recent days, we have stood together as one under our Tiranga, supporting the Prime Minister and his government. The US, through the IMF, has orchestrated the infusion of $2.5 billion into Pakistan’s economy and brokered a ceasefire between our nations. I earnestly hope that this assistance does not end up supporting terror groups,” he expressed in a post on X.
