The centenary celebration of the Naduar Regional Nath Yogi Sanmilan commenced at Khadoichuk on Monday with a ceremonial inauguration of a water lifting programme. The festivities included thousands of women filling their pitchers with water and singing devotional songs, culminating in the hoisting of the centenary celebration flag by Padma Hazarika, MLA of Naduar LAC and the President of the Nath Yogi Sanmilan. In his address, Hazarika highlighted the rich history and origins of the Nath-Yogis, emphasizing their significant contributions to the Assamese nation-building process. This year-long celebration marks a milestone for the Naduar Regional Nath Yogi Sanmilan.
Following the flag hoisting, a felicitation ceremony was held at the Khadoichuk Namghar premises, attended by numerous devotees. During this gathering, Lohit Nath’s Assamese translation of Ramcharitmanas, originally authored by Tulsidas, was unveiled, adding to the cultural significance of the event. The inaugural session’s closing ceremony will take place on Tuesday.
Looking ahead, Mintu Nath, Secretary of the celebration committee, informed that the grand closing ceremony of the centenary celebration will occur in May 2026, featuring a three-day programme, promising to be a significant event for the Nath Yogi community and its followers.
