This initiative is designed to streamline existing health benefits by consolidating various programs, including the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, the Mizoram State Health Care Scheme, and reimbursement provisions for government employees.
However, the introduction of the MUHCS has sparked discontent among government personnel. The Federation of Mizoram Government Employees & Workers (FMGE&W) has voiced concerns, advocating for the establishment of a dedicated committee to review and reevaluate the program. They emphasize the necessity for the scheme to cater better to the specific needs of government staff, urging that their representatives be integrated into this committee to ensure their voices and concerns are adequately addressed.
In a related development, the FMGE&W is calling for an immediate reform: they demand that government employees and their dependents be granted the freedom to seek treatment at any hospital of their choice, without being limited by the current package rates, until a more comprehensive healthcare structure is put in place.
As the situation unfolds, the government is urged to address these critical issues for the MUHCS to fulfill its promise of universal health care in Mizoram.
