CM Dr. Manik Saha Urges Swift Action for Crucial Road and Drain Projects in Agartala
Agartala, 4th May 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has called on officials to expedite the completion of vital road construction and drainage projects within Agartala. His directive came during a site review of developmental activities spanning Wards 16, 20, and 32 under the Agartala Municipal Council.
Beginning at the Agartala Town Hall, Dr. Saha’s inspection traversed key localities including Santipara, Kshetramohan School, Netaji Chowmuhani, and the Howrah Riverfront Project, among others. Throughout his extensive field visit, the Chief Minister evaluated the progress of various civic initiatives, engaged with residents, and assessed critical infrastructure concerns firsthand.
In his remarks, Dr. Saha acknowledged improvements in the drainage system across the 8-Town Baradowali Assembly Constituency, stating, “While many roads and drains have seen development, I’m pleased that previous drainage issues have been addressed. However, instances of encroachment were observed, which require immediate action.” He emphasized the necessity of constructing covered drains and preserving essential local water bodies, particularly a pond in Shantipara.
“Our focus remains on enhancing the city’s drainage network and mitigating encroachments for improved urban living conditions,” he stated. Dr. Saha also urged that all pending road works be completed within their designated timelines. He reinforced his commitment to public engagement, saying, “We don’t limit our visits to election periods. Residents appreciated our presence in their neighborhoods. I also reviewed infrastructure development at Kshetramohan School.”
Accompanying the Chief Minister on this notable inspection were several high-ranking officials, including Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, and Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, alongside Shailesh Kumar Yadav, CEO of Agartala Smart City Ltd.
