Empowering Healthcare: Assam Deputy Speaker Champions NDA’s Vision in Goalpara
Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr. Numal Momin made headlines during his recent visit to Goalpara district on April 30. The visit, part of the ongoing election campaign in Assam, saw Momin not only reviewing health conditions but also attending to patients. His approach underscores the BJP’s commitment to community engagement ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections.
During the visit, Momin conducted several campaign meetings in support of candidates from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). His proactive involvement included referring patients to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for specialized treatment, showcasing a blend of political duty and personal compassion. A resident of Padumpur village expressed gratitude for Momin’s hands-on assistance, stating, “He came to our Padumpur village for the election campaign and took care of my wife, assessing her health issues. I am very happy for his noble work. He advised me to go to GMCH for better treatment of my wife (Rumila Marak).”
The political atmosphere is charged as Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma voiced confidence in the NDA’s impending success in the panchayat elections. In an enthusiastic post on X, he announced that the NDA has already secured 37 Zila Parishad seats and 288 Anchalik Panchayat seats unopposed, indicating a historic mandate in Assam’s political landscape. “This reflects the immense trust and overwhelming love that the people of Assam have for the NDA and our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,” Sarma remarked. He further emphasized, “When the final election results are declared, we are confident that this tally will grow even more impressive.”
The panchayat elections in Assam are set for two phases, with the first phase on May 2 covering 14 districts, followed by the second phase on May 7 in the remaining 13 districts. The counting of votes for both phases is scheduled for May 11. This election cycle is particularly significant, as over 1.80 crore voters, including 90.71 lakh male voters, 89.65 lakh female voters, and 408 others, will cast their votes across an expansive network of 25,007 polling stations.
As the election campaign gains momentum, the actions of leaders like Dr. Numal Momin reflect a strategic blend of political advocacy and community service. With the Chief Minister’s strong predictions and the BJP’s historical successes, the upcoming panchayat elections are poised to be a pivotal moment in Assam’s political journey. Voter turnout and public sentiment will be crucial in determining the outcome as the NDA aims to solidify its position in local governance across the state.
