Haryana Urges Peace Vigilance After Pahalgam Terror Attack: Key Directives for Security Leaders
In response to the recent terror incident in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana’s Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi spearheaded a comprehensive strategy to fortify peace and security across the state. In a video conference with Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs), Rastogi underlined the importance of maintaining law and order, urging officials to remain vigilant against potential threats to public safety and harmony.
Addressing the officials, Rastogi emphasized the urgency of keeping an unwavering watch on anti-social activities and quickly addressing any attempts to disrupt social cohesion. These directives come as part of a broader initiative to uphold peace and brotherhood amid heightened national security concerns.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra introduced a series of robust security measures at the meeting. These involve intensifying patrols, boosting local intelligence, and maintaining vigilant surveillance in high-risk areas. Misra also stressed the critical role of monitoring social media, directing officers to take decisive legal action against anyone spreading false information or attempting to disturb communal peace online. “Any attempt to disturb social harmony will be dealt with a firm hand,” Misra asserted, reflecting the administration’s no-tolerance stance on actions that threaten social unity.
Recognizing the potential impact on Kashmiri students in the state, Misra instructed district officials to prioritize their security and support. The directive includes ensuring that educational institutions maintain close communication with district administrations, fostering a safe and supportive environment for students. Regular assessments of the law and order situation were also mandated to ensure swift responses to any rising incidents.
During the conference, Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur directed district police chiefs to identify and closely watch vulnerable areas, highlighting the necessity of reactivating peace committees to facilitate community dialogues and ease tensions. “These committees play a crucial role in promoting dialogue between communities and can act as a bridge to defuse tension during sensitive times,” stated Kapur, emphasizing the committees’ importance in maintaining communal harmony.
Alongside Kapur and Rastogi, the meeting was attended by Additional Director General of Police (CID) Saurabh Singh, Secretary (Home) Geeta Bharti, and senior officials from various departments, all focused on bolstering Haryana’s security framework.
This concerted effort by Haryana’s leadership aims to not only secure the state but also reassure its citizens, particularly students from sensitive regions, of their safety and well-being. The administration’s proactive stance is intended to foster a sense of security and unity, reinforcing that any threat to peace will be promptly addressed with unwavering resolve. By enhancing surveillance and reinforcing community bonds, Haryana seeks to maintain its societal stability during these tense times.
In this challenging atmosphere, the state’s strategic focus remains anchored on preserving a cohesive and peaceful social fabric, demonstrating a vigilant commitment to its residents’ security and harmony.
