Developed by Space42, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi-based AI holding company G42, TXAI represents a significant leap into the future of transportation.
Since its 2021 pilot launch in partnership with Abu Dhabi Mobility, TXAI has demonstrated its cutting-edge capabilities in a carefully mapped city test zone. With advanced use of LiDAR, cameras, radar, and AI-driven decision-making, TXAI navigates the complexities of urban traffic autonomously. Fan Zhu, the Senior Vice President of Autonomous Mobility at Space42, notes that the vehicle can detect, analyze, and predict movements of other vehicles, pedestrians, and obstacles in real-time, ensuring precision and safety.
TXAI’s ability to execute complex maneuvers like smooth lane changes and hazard avoidance exemplifies its advanced path-planning algorithms. Zhu emphasizes the project’s commitment to safety, with rigorous testing across diverse environments and multiple layers of protective measures. The system is constantly updated with refined AI models, and a trained safety officer is always onboard to ensure readiness for any unprecedented events, underscoring the priority Space42 places on passenger safety.
For seamless and precise navigation, TXAI utilizes Real-Time Kinematic positioning and Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping technology, even in areas with weak GPS signals, achieving centimetre-level accuracy. This technological integration enables TXAI to construct a comprehensive 360-degree view of its surroundings, adeptly anticipating interactions with human-driven vehicles.
