Manipur Clinches Top Honors at 68th National School Games
Imphal, Manipur – The 68th National School Games 2024-25 concluded in Imphal, with the host state emerging as the overall team champion in several disciplines. The School Games Federation of India (SGFI), under the aegis of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, successfully organized the championship, which drew over 860 athletes and officials from 28 states and union territories.
In the weightlifting category, Manipur dominated the U17 boys and girls divisions, securing top honors with 192 and 232 points, respectively. Punjab finished as the runners-up in the U17 boys category, while Maharashtra took the same position in the U17 girls division. Manipur’s impressive performance earned it the overall team champion title in weightlifting with a total of 424 points.
The state’s prowess in traditional martial arts, Thang-Ta, also shone through as it emerged as the overall team champion in the U14 and U19 boys and girls categories. In the Thang-Ta U14 boys and girls divisions, Manipur secured the top position, with Uttar Pradesh and Delhi finishing as runners-up. In the U19 boys and girls divisions, Manipur claimed the championship title, with Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi finishing as runners-up.
