Exciting Partnership: Transform Ambedkar Smriti Vanam with Passionate PPP Collaboration, Declares Collector
NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha recently announced that the district administration is exploring a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model to maintain Dr. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam in Vijayawada. In a move to enhance the area’s appeal as a tourist destination, Lakshmisha emphasized that several new facilities are set to be introduced, aiming to attract both locals and visitors. This initiative forms part of a broader effort to boost tourism across various parts of the district.
Pavitra Sangamam, situated in Ibrahimpatnam, along with the Krishna Riverfront and the canal bunds, are all on the agenda for development. These sites will receive significant attention to improve infrastructure and tourist amenities. The district’s plans are ambitious, aiming to create a lively and dynamic environment that can host a range of events. Lakshmisha revealed that in the near future, the district will organize a series of business summits, as well as agriculture and horticulture shows. A seafood festival is also planned to showcase the region’s local flavors and culinary traditions.
One of the most anticipated developments is the introduction of a boat house and floating restaurant on the Krishna River. These features are expected to add a scenic element and provide a unique dining experience, further enhancing the riverfront’s attractiveness. Lakshmisha, while addressing the media, stressed the importance of these projects in strengthening Vijayawada’s standing as a key cultural and tourist hub.
In addition to outdoor attractions, plans are underway to enhance the amenities within Dr. Ambedkar Smriti Vanam itself. Proposed developments include a theatre, a commercial complex, book stalls, an auditorium, and a food court. These additions aim to transform the park into a multi-use space that caters to a wide range of cultural and recreational activities, benefiting both residents and tourists. The park already features a monumental 125-foot statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, located at Swarajya Maidan, which serves as a centerpiece and holds great historical significance.
Lakshmisha indicated that tenders for the development of Ambedkar Smriti Vanam would be invited soon, signaling the district administration’s commitment to fast-tracking renovations and improvements. These developments are expected to provide a substantial boost to the local economy, creating jobs and increasing visitor numbers. The district’s comprehensive approach to developing tourist infrastructure reflects a strategic push to leverage the area’s natural and cultural assets, targeting sustainable growth in tourism.
This planned revitalization of Vijayawada’s tourist areas underscores the district administration’s proactive stance on encouraging private investment in public infrastructure. By prioritizing projects that enhance visitor experiences and promote local culture, the district aims to establish itself as a premiere destination, drawing both national and international tourists. The integration of modern facilities with historical and cultural landmarks is set to redefine the region’s tourist landscape, offering something for everyone.
As these plans move forward, the district administration has committed to ensuring transparency and engaging with stakeholders to maximize the impact of these projects. Through careful planning and collaboration, NTR District hopes to set a benchmark for sustainable tourism development in Andhra Pradesh.
