Police Bust Drug Rackets in Naharlagun, Nab Four Kingpin Peddlers in Major Crackdown
In a significant crackdown on drug peddling, police in Naharlagun, Itanagar Capital Region, have busted two interstate drug networks and arrested four drug peddlers, including three women. The operation, conducted on the basis of credible information, led to the seizure of 53.13 grams of heroin worth over Rs 4 lakh and cash of Rs 1.25 lakh.
According to Superintendent of Police Mihin Gambo, a police team conducted a raid at Nyigam Colony, Naharlagun, and apprehended a husband-wife duo, Rana Thapa (20) and Yami Rabo (25). The team recovered 25 plastic vials containing 28.73 grams of heroin and Rs 45,000 in cash from them. A case has been registered at Naharlagun police station under Section 21(b)/27/27A of the NDPS Act.
In another operation, the police conducted a raid at the residence of Dulena Begum (33) and Amirjan Begum (36) at Naharlagun, leading to the seizure of 24.4 grams of heroin and Rs 80,000 in cash. Both Dulena and Amirjan, residents of Laluk in Assam, were arrested. The drugs and cash seized from both operations are valued at over Rs 5 lakh.
The success of the operation is attributed to the tireless efforts of the police team, who worked tirelessly to gather intelligence and conduct the raids. The seizures highlight the prevalence of drug peddling in the region and the need for sustained efforts to curb the menace.
