Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Stresses Importance of BJP in India’s Global Aspirations
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) crucial role in propelling India’s growth as a global leader at an event marking the party’s 46th foundation day. Speaking at the gathering in Guwahati, Sarma cautioned that any attempt to weaken the BJP would create “innumerable obstacles” in India’s journey towards global prominence.
Sarma underscored that undermining the BJP is not about targeting individuals, but rather weakening a powerful ideology rooted in national pride and unity. He urged party workers to take a collective pledge to work towards India’s emergence as a global leader in the years ahead. With confidence in the party’s enduring commitment to national service, Sarma declared that the BJP would serve the nation “as long as the sun and moon exist.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of countering misinformation on social media and praised party workers for their efforts in promoting positive messaging. Sarma dwelled on the symbolic significance of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, describing its construction as a milestone in overcoming “500 years of slavery.”
In a nod to the party’s achievements, Sarma emphasized that key reforms and legislative breakthroughs, such as the abrogation of Article 370, passage of the Waqf Bill, and outlawing of triple talaq, would not have been possible without the BJP at the helm. He also credited the party for making significant strides in Assam, from autonomous councils to municipal and panchayat bodies, citing its unwavering commitment to upholding and elevating Assamese pride and identity.
Sarma’s remarks came as the party celebrated its foundation day, which was marked with the hoisting of the party flag at the state headquarters in the presence of senior leaders and party workers. In his tribute to grassroots workers, Sarma said, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the BJP has become a platform to realise the aspirations of every section of Indian society and to restore India’s ancient glory.”
