National-Level ‘Mountain Rush’ Car Rally Kicks Off in Sikkim
As part of Sikkim’s 50th Statehood celebrations, the JK Tyre ‘Mountain Rush’ car rally is set to take place from April 22 to 26. The national-level Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) car rally competition will see teams from across India compete in a thrilling motorsport event. The rally is being organized by Summit Times and Service to Mankind, with the Information and Public Relations department as the associate partner.
“This is a first-time event for Sikkim, and we’re excited to host it,” said Puran Tamang, editor of Summit Times, at a press meet. “A TSD rally is a motorsport event where teams must navigate a course adhering to a specific route and average speed, rather than racing for speed.” The rally will feature four categories: National, Open Expert, Open Amateur, and Sikkimese Local.
The top three winners in each category will receive prize money of Rs 2 lakhs, Rs 1 lakh, and Rs 50,000 in the National category; Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 20,000 in the Open Expert category; and Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 10,000 in the Open Amateur and Sikkimese Local categories.
The four-day rally will commence and conclude in Gangtok, covering all six districts of Sikkim. The event aims to give participants a feel of Sikkim’s former capitals and will be fully supported by the State government, with the IPR department as an associate partner contributing in every aspect of the event.
“We’re excited to bring top competitors from across the country to Sikkim,” said Saurav Chatterjee, FMSCI council member. “The rally will be a landmark event in the history of TSD rallies in India.”
The ‘Mountain Rush’ rally will also feature an autoshow with supercars and superbikes, as well as professional stunt riders performing during the event. Two national-level participants will be sponsored by JK Tyre.
TSD rallies emphasize teamwork and communication between the driver and navigator to follow the route accurately and stay on time. With Sikkim’s breathtaking landscapes and scenic routes, the ‘Mountain Rush’ rally promises to be an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.
